     WILLIE THE WORM'S DREAM
Written by:  Patty Bunn
"I'm going to be an artist," said Willie the Worm to his friends.
They started to giggle, then laughed outloud and pointed their fingers at him.
You can't be an artist, you have no hands, how could you hold a brush?
"I'll find a way," cried Willie, then he began to blush!

"I know I can be whatever I want to be!
I'll show them that I am right!"
He crawled away to think of a plan.
Thinking kept him awake all night

When morning came Willie knew what to do, to prove to his friends they were wrong.
"I can paint with no hands," said he, "With the plan that I've come upon!"
He laid out his paper and paints on the floor, for Willie this was just the right place.
He crawled through the paint and over the paper, with a great big smile on his face!
Willie made many trips through the colors, as he covered the paper with paint!
He squiggled, he squirmed, and he wiggled, across the paper without a complaint.
While Willie worked hard at his painting, he did not know his friends had appeared.
Then he heard clapping and shouting, "HOORAY!!" Willie's an artist they cheered!
Because he had no hands, they told Willie what he couldn't be.
Willie had proven them wrong, because he disagreed!
WILLIE had found another way to make his dream come true.

Don't ever accept that you can't, till you try,

WHAT COUNTS IS WHAT YOU THINK YOU CAN DO!

Mules are very stubborn, they never do what they're supposed to do.

I hope this little story is not describing you!

When teacher said, "Please listen," he wouldn't pay attention."

He was always doing something else, too many things to mention.

When he was supposed to do a project, he did not wisely use his time.

That mule never finished anything, he just got more and more behind!

">
">
">
">
">
">
">
">
">
">
">
He would never listen to directions, he did everything his own way.

If teacher tried to help him, all he would do is bray!

Sometimes he would start to work and it looked like he might get it right,

then he would get all stubborn, do it his way, and his work would be a sight!

">
">
">

He was always acting up in class, making noise any way he could.

If there was a way to cause a problem, that mule surely would!

He spilled the glue and broke the crayons, he bothered his neighbor next to him.

He would interrupt the teacher, he put water in the sink and filled it to the rim!
">
">
">
">
If teacher asked the class,  to please be quiet, he would sing out-loud and hum!

That mule didn't care about the rules, he just wanted to have fun.

When recess came, because he had not obeyed the rules, teacher wouldn't let him play.

He sat by the fence and watched the others, and he just brayed and brayed!

WHY, was he being PUNISHED?

NOW HE DIDN'T LIKE TO COME TO SCHOOL!

No one had ever told him he would have to follow RULES!

">
">
">

Now that you've heard this story, could this possibly be like YOU?

Just like the MULE, are some of these things, the same things that
YOU DO?

You'll have much more fun at school, if you obey the RULES!

WE WOULDN'T WANT OUR CLASSROOM FULL OF STUBBORN MULES!
">

">
">
">
">
">

Have you ever heard the story of the mule who went to school?

He thought it was a place to play, he didn't like the rules!
